Respondus is a browser and proctoring software designed to prevent students from accessing other web pages or applications on their computers while taking a Canvas quiz, and also facilitates taking exams outside of traditional testing centers.

Instructors must enable Respondus LockDown Browser in their Blackboard course so students may utilize this software. Students can access their tests using this browser but are unable to print, copy or visit other websites until their test has been submitted for grading.

Monitor

Respondus Monitor is an advanced proctoring tool that extends LockDown Browser with webcam and video technology to prevent cheating during online exams. Designed to work seamlessly with Canvas, Respondus Monitor makes for ideal non-proctored testing environments; students use webcams to record themselves during tests while the software detects certain behaviors such as leaving their computer or another person entering frame of camera; instructors then review video recordings and data to assess if any exams have been compromised.

LockDown Browser, already utilized in many IU online courses, but offering additional features for remote proctoring.
