WashU Earns Prestigious Title as Top Producer of Fulbright Scholars

Washington University in St. Louis has once again been recognized as a Fulbright Top Producing Institution for U.S. scholars. This accolade is awarded to the American colleges and universities that produced the highest quantity of candidates selected for the 2024-25 Fulbright U.S. Student Program. In the previous year, 12 students and recent graduates received Fulbright awards to journey abroad for research or teaching English.

“The recognition of Washington University in St. Louis as a Fulbright Top Producing Institution is a clear indication of your commitment to fostering global engagement and mutual understanding between individuals from the United States and those from other nations,” stated Scott Weinhold, principal deputy assistant secretary of the U.S. State Department.

The Fulbright Program serves as the preeminent international academic exchange initiative of the U.S. government. It is financed through an annual appropriation from Congress to the State Department. Additionally, host institutions, along with participating governments, corporations, and foundations globally, also contribute direct and indirect support to the program, which operates in over 160 nations across the world.
