NACUBO, the National Association of College and University Business Officers, annually honors a particular campus innovation, procedure, or initiative that promotes ecological sustainability in higher education.

On July 28, the organization acknowledged the WashU Arboretum as its 2025 Excellence in Sustainability Award recipient.

The arboretum at Washington University in St. Louis boasts over 7,000 trees on its grounds, including 44 species that are threatened or endangered. Last year, it secured Level III accreditation through the ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program.
