Recent publication: “Scam GPT: GenAI and the Automation of Fraud.”

This overview outlines our current understanding of generative AI’s involvement in fraud, the groups most susceptible, and the larger economic and cultural transformations that are making individuals more inclined to take risks, more exposed to deceit, and more likely to either perpetrate scams or become victims of them.

AI-driven frauds are not only monetary or technological offenses; they also take advantage of social weaknesses—whether temporary, such as travel, or systemic, like unstable employment. By investigating how fraudsters are evolving and expediting their tactics, we aim to demonstrate that countering them will need a combination of cultural changes, corporate actions, and impactful legislation.
