The University of Georgia Parents Leadership Council is currently inviting applications for grants for the 2026-2027 academic year. Campus organizations focused on enhancing the undergraduate journey are urged to seek funding that aids scholarships, student projects, and vital resources that improve student life.
Each year, PLC grants enable UGA faculties, schools, departments, and recognized student organizations to initiate transformative programs and address essential student requirements. Applications are presently open through two separate routes: one for university entities and another for student organizations via UGA Student Affairs’ Involvement Network.
Submissions are assessed by the PLC Grants Committee, composed of nearly 100 members, over a three-week duration. Final funding determinations will be made in early February. Beneficiaries must demonstrate significant and quantifiable effects on student life at UGA.
In the previous year, the PLC secured an unprecedented $1.5 million to support 142 student organizations and campus initiatives, such as the Sunshine Fund, a project aimed at enhancing the mental wellness of UGA students.
“For me, the Sunshine Fund is tangible evidence of our commitment to wellness and mutual support,” expressed recent alumnus Sean Glennon. “Whenever I reflect on the Sunshine Fund, I’m reminded that we have a community that genuinely values uplifting one another and is eager to contribute to make that possible.”
The UGA School of Medicine (SOM) also benefited from PLC support to provide scholarships for medical students, a cohort that generally graduates with over $200,000 in student loans, which presents a considerable challenge for aspiring physicians in Georgia. The PLC grant funding to SOM is a step toward alleviating this financial strain and ensuring UGA possesses the resources to attract top-tier medical students.
“Offering robust student financial aid will greatly bolster our efforts to recruit an outstanding inaugural class to Athens,” stated Dr. Shelley Nuss, founding dean of the UGA School of Medicine. “By assisting in defraying the expenses of a medical degree, we can motivate the finest medical students to join as Bulldogs.”
Since its inception in 2012, the PLC has expanded to include over 400 families and has granted nearly $8.5 million to student initiatives, scholarship programs, and other undergraduate resources throughout campus. The cutoff date to apply for funding is Oct. 31. Late submissions will not be considered.
