uga-master-of-art-education-degree-transitions-to-online-program

In reaction to an increasing demand for sophisticated art education qualifications available remotely, the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia has moved the Master of Art Education program online starting in the 2025-2026 academic cycle, collaborating with the UGA Office of Online Learning.

The Master of Art Education program at UGA — managed by research faculty at Georgia’s leading university who actively engage in scholarship within the discipline — investigates the intersections of art curriculum, contemporary art, disability studies, culturally inclusive practices, and digital innovation. This program is among only a select few degree offerings sanctioned by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) for obtaining a salary enhancement for current PK-12 educators.

“The quality and prestige of UGA’s art education program is demonstrated by the readiness of in-service educators to travel considerable distances to enroll in graduate studies at the Lamar Dodd School of Art in previous years,” stated Christina Hanawalt, associate professor of art.
