The University of Georgia received nearly 48,000 total submissions for the Class of 2029, marking an increase of close to 5,000 from the previous year and setting a new institutional milestone. More than 15,800 candidates were accepted for the upcoming autumn semester.

Applications surged consistently among both in-state and out-of-state applicants, rising by 12% overall compared to last year. The current acceptance rate stands at a competitive 33%.

UGA welcomed students from all 50 states as well as Washington, D.C. Admitted students from Georgia encompass 154 of the state’s 159 counties — six more than last year — underscoring the significance of UGA’s in-state recruitment initiatives.

Admission was granted to individuals with outstanding academic achievements. The middle 50% of accepted candidates reported a GPA ranging from 4.08 to 4.35; an ACT score between 30 and 34; an SAT score of 1300 to 1470; and completion of 8 to 14 AP, IB, or dual enrollment classes.

“Each year, the University of Georgia persistently attracts exceptionally gifted students who come to campus ready to assume their responsibilities as future leaders,” stated President Jere W. Morehead. “I extend my congratulations to the students who have been admitted to the Class of 2029, and I eagerly await their arrival in our premier learning environment this fall.”

“UGA is dedicated to ensuring that every student has a remarkable experience during their tenure. For new first-year students, this encompasses the provision of on-campus accommodations, guaranteeing access to essential classes, and supporting them to graduate within a four-year timeframe,” noted David Graves, UGA’s director of undergraduate admissions.

Notifications regarding the admission of transfer students for summer and fall 2025 will be announced on March 21. In accordance with its strategic enrollment strategy, the university aims to enroll one transfer student for every two newcomers in the first-year cohort.
