Barbara W. Trautner, MD, PhD, a globally acknowledged physician-scientist, has been appointed the new co-director of the Infectious Diseases (ID) Division in the Department of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Trautner is transitioning to WashU Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where she holds a professorship in medicine. She will assume her new position on July 1.

Trautner will oversee the clinical and translational aspects of the division, collaborating with Jennifer Philips, MD, PhD, the Theodore and Bertha Bryan Professor of Medicine, who has served as co-director of the basic science research sector of the Infectious Diseases Division since 2019.
