From March 2-7, scholars from the University of Georgia dedicated their Spring Break by collaborating with local non-profit organizations in Charleston, Asheboro, Charlotte, and Savannah.
IMPACT Service Breaks, overseen by Engagement, Leadership, and Service, provides students with an engaging opportunity to reside and volunteer within a new community during academic recesses. Each IMPACT Service Break expedition comprises a group of 16, which includes two student site leaders and one UGA staff learning collaborator.
Sally Khweis, a senior biology major and co-site leader for the Asheboro, North Carolina journey, mentioned that collaborating with fellow IMPACT volunteers is an excellent approach for students to gain fresh insights and create new friendships.
“It was genuinely motivating to observe our team evolve from a collection of strangers into a tightly-knit group, all striving towards the common objective of assisting families in establishing a stable home,” expressed Khweis.
