Two postdoctoral scholars at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have received fellowships from the Jane Coffin Childs Memorial Fund for Medical Research. This three-year fellowship champions the most promising postdoctoral researchers involved in essential biomedical inquiry, with a strong focus on enhancing our comprehension of the origins, therapies, and remedies for human diseases, particularly cancer.
Saintilnord conducts research under Ting Wang, the Sanford C. and Karen P. Loewentheil Distinguished Professor of Medicine and chair of the Department of Genetics. His graduate studies revolved around the impact of environmental factors and cancer-linked variants of proteins that organize DNA within the genome on gene function. His postdoctoral work investigates the convergence of epigenetics, genomics, and cancer.
Reynolds is part of Rui Zhang’s laboratory, an associate professor in WashU Medicine’s Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics. His graduate research concentrated on the network of proteins known as actins, which give cells their form and integrity — forming the cytoskeleton. He intends to leverage his knowledge to investigate interactions among additional cytoskeletal proteins in unicellular organisms.
