How to take a test with RLDB
Respondus Lockdown Browser is a special browser designed to prevent students from copying and pasting text, taking screenshots or accessing other websites during an online examination in Blackboard or Canvas. Furthermore, Respondus Monitor records audio and video of test takers during exams in order to further deter cheating attempts.
Instructors can utilize RLDB and Monitor to proctor online exams for their students. Exams may require both programs for proctored exams or can take place in the University Testing Center; once finished with their exam they can exit RLDB and return to normal browsing mode; any issues during testing can be reported via the “It’s Not Working” link for assistance with troubleshooting tips.
Student may initially find RLDB difficult to use, but once started it can be simple. First step should be ensuring their computer meets all minimum requirements needed for it to run smoothly before beginning an exam via their regular browser and entering an exam password in a popup window that appears after clicking “start exam. When completed RLDB will launch and commence their examinations.
Students taking tests through RLDB must abide by the instructions of their instructor in order to take part. For instance, this may include not wearing a hat or scarf that obscures their face during an exam or making phone calls while taking the test; such actions could result in disqualification. If their face cannot be detected during testing, an alert will notify them to resolve it before continuing the test.

Leaving a test with RLDB
Before taking an online test that requires RLDB, it’s essential that your computer is ready. Any applications or programs that might interfere with taking the exam should be removed before beginning and you should ensure your web camera works appropriately. If RLDB doesn’t seem to work, rebooting might help; usually this resolves most problems related to its functionality.
The RLDB browser was specifically created to prevent cheating during online examinations.
