Renée Fleming stands as one of the most esteemed vocalists of this era, gracing the stages of the world’s renowned opera houses and concert venues. She makes her return to the UGA Performing Arts Center on April 25 and 26 for a panel conversation and a recital featuring pianist Bradley Moore.

Panel Conversation: Music & Mind

Fleming is a prominent supporter of investigating the significant links between the arts and individual well-being. During her stay at UGA, she will deliver Music & Mind, a panel discussion with University of Georgia scholars and healthcare professionals whose research delves into this emerging domain. This event will occur on April 25 at 5 p.m. in Ramsey Concert Hall.

Panelists consist of:

  • Anna Abraham, head, Torrance Center for Creativity and Talent Development
  • Stephen Correia, head of neuropsychology, Cognitive Aging Research and Education (CARE) Center
  • Ellyn H. Evans, assistant professor of music therapy, Hugh Hodgson School of Music

This gathering is part of the university’s Signature Lecture Series. Admission is complimentary, and tickets are not necessary.

Recital: Voice of Nature: The Anthropocene

Fleming’s eagerly awaited return to Hodgson Concert Hall presents a selection of art songs and contemporary compositions that investigate nature as both muse and victim of humanity. Voice of Nature: The Anthropocene will occur on April 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Hodgson Concert Hall. An original film produced by the National Geographic Society will enhance one segment of the program, which features a range from operatic classics to Björk. Tickets are mandatory for this occasion.

This performance is funded by the Kleiner Foundation.
