Numerous members of the University of Georgia and Follett Higher Education convened on Aug. 22 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the UGA Bookstore. The occasion marked the completion of a significant renovation of the bookstore aimed at modernizing its appearance and enriching the Georgia Bulldog experience.

Situated at the center of the University of Georgia campus, nestled between the Zell B. Miller Learning Center and Sanford Stadium, the UGA Bookstore serves as the focal point for student course materials and the primary source of officially licensed UGA merchandise and gifts.

The bookstore renovation upgraded sections dedicated to student textbooks, educational supplies, dorm necessities, and technology. The UGA Bookstore functions as an authorized Apple retailer and service provider while also offering PC products and repair services for computers and smartphones.

The expanded section for course materials on the top floor now encompasses over 3,100 square feet. Through an integration with Athena, UGA’s student registration system, students can access a customized list of textbooks and other resources required for their classes.

The ground floor layout was revamped during the renovation to enhance flow on game days. Bulldog enthusiasts will appreciate a dedicated game day shop; a unique Uga-themed section; a customization center for names, images, and likeness; and a broader selection of premium clothing from brands like Nike, Peter Millar, johnnie-O, and Onward Reserve.

The renovation also introduced sleek new displays, marble floors, seating areas, and vibrant wall features throughout the bookstore.

The business partner of the UGA Bookstore, Follett Higher Education, contributed the majority of the funding for the initiative. Follett has collaborated with UGA to manage the bookstore since fall 2003.

Follett CEO Emmanuel Kolady was among the ribbon cutters at the event alongside UGA President Jere W. Morehead and other university officials.

“We’re thankful to Follett for facilitating this remarkable transformation,” expressed Brett Jackson, associate vice president for auxiliary services. “With their support and the diligent efforts of numerous individuals over the past several months, every corner of the bookstore has been reimagined, reconfigured, and revitalized to enhance the experience for students and UGA supporters alike.”
