Washington University in St. Louis has obtained authorization from the city of St. Louis to proceed with the plans for a new structure at 6200 Forsyth Blvd.

The institution will revamp the site at 6200 Forsyth, which will feature a new three-story building dedicated to academic student services and administrative offices, crafted by Christner Architects based in St. Louis. Clayco will act as the construction manager.

WashU acquired the previous church at 6200 Forsyth in 2021. Although situated in a preservation district, it is not regarded as a historic structure. Following extensive evaluation, the university determined it is not suitable for efficient reuse. WashU also possesses the neighboring lot at 6214 Forsyth, currently serving as an information technology services hub for students. The landscaping surrounding 6214 Forsyth will be incorporated into the project plan, but there are no planned modifications to its exterior or function at this moment.

“This initiative will be the main entrance where we greet alumni upon their return to the Danforth Campus, serving as a center for our Center for Career Engagement,” stated Nichol Luoma, executive vice chancellor and chief administrative officer. “It establishes a distinctive method for uniting our alumni, employers, and students to enhance successful student career outcomes. It will also provide assistance to our alumni as they advance through their career paths.”

WashU has met all of the city’s preconstruction prerequisites, with demolition anticipated to commence in mid-June. The project’s completion is projected for late 2026.
