University of Washington President Ana Mari Cauce has declared that Jason Campbell will take on the role of interim senior vice president for Finance, Planning and Budgeting as well as chief financial officer, starting Aug. 2. Currently serving as the vice president for Finance and Budget Strategy and deputy senior finance officer, Campbell will transition into the interim role after the exit of Sarah Norris Hall.
“We value Jason taking on this interim position. I’m assured he will give outstanding assistance to both incoming President Jones and the Finance, Planning and Budgeting leadership team to guarantee the UW’s fiscal stability throughout this transition of leadership,” Cauce stated.

Campbell holds the position of vice president for Finance & Budget Strategy and deputy chief financial officer at UW. He became part of the University of Washington in 2017, where he worked as a senior director for the Financial Analysis and Budget Strategy division. In 2022, he ascended to the role of associate vice provost of Planning and Budgeting. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a master’s degree in accounting from California State University, Sacramento.
Norris Hall has been with the University since 2009, and in 2024, guided the Finance, Planning and Budgeting team through a reorganization and leadership overhaul. The reorganized Office of Finance, Planning and Budgeting united UW Finance with the UW Office of Planning and Budgeting.
Norris Hall has been appointed the next chief financial officer at the Allen Institute. Her final day at the UW will be Aug. 1.
“Sarah’s people-focused leadership will leave a lasting impression on the University and those we serve,” Cauce remarked. “We are truly thankful for her contributions and pleased she’ll be continuing her journey with an organization closely allied to our Husky family.”
