Students taking exams should close all other programs on their computers prior to beginning, including iTunes and other media managers, file sharing applications and instant messenger services such as MSN Messenger or Yahoo Messenger.
What is Oem Lockdown Browser?
As online learning becomes more commonplace, there is an urgent need to combat cheating. One such tool is online proctoring tools – specifically lockdown browser software which monitors student activities during exams – it also restricts any other browser tabs, desktop applications, keyboard shortcuts or screen capture programs installed on student’s computers during an exam period. How to install Oem Lockdown Browser?
If your instructor uses Respondus Monitor (webcam recording) or LockDown Browser in their quizzes, you must download and install these pieces of software prior to taking the exam. A download link will be included on your Quiz Details page when required – these tools prevent from opening unauthorized applications while testing, record audio/video of your work by Respondus Monitor when applicable, or both simultaneously using Respondus Monitor/RLDB respectively on your computer while taking an exam/quiz; they do not remain on your system after testing has ended!
To install RLDB, follow these links to the appropriate site for your operating system and download and run the installation file to complete installation. Please be aware that these RLDB installers only support Windows and Mac computers – they won’t run on Chromebooks or Linux/UNIX machines.
On installation of RLDB, a pop-up window will suggest closing other programs before continuing with installation of RLDB. Simply click “Kill these programs” to do this and proceed to myMason/Blackboard where your course can be found and your examination can begin.
If your RLDB program is experiencing issues, checking for patches or reinstalling is usually the solution. To do this, start the application and press either the i button in the upper-left corner or clicking on About in the toolbar; your version number will then be displayed and you can download any necessary updates if applicable.
How to use Oem Lockdown Browser?
Some instructors require students to use Lockdown Browser during online exams. This software prevents students from printing, browsing to another URL or accessing other applications on the computer while taking an exam; additionally it also stops students from closing or exiting their browser until their test has been submitted for grading. It’s easy for students to install and use, making taking tests online more confidently than ever!
Lockdown Browser requires students to log into their Canvas course and locate the assignment that requires it, before clicking “Launch LockDown Browser.” This will open a web page that asks them to accept its terms of service as well as close any apps causing interference (like screen capturing or chat programs).

What are the benefits of Oem Lockdown Browser?
Now that online and computer-based testing are becoming an increasing part of educational institutions’ testing practices, it is essential to prevent cheating during tests. Browser lockdown software provides educators with a means of monitoring students’ on-screen activities while disabling access to websites or applications, helping prevent students from trying to cheat by searching online for answers or consulting classmates during exams. After finishing the installation process, ensure all programs on your computer have been shut down before starting the assessment. Also take note of any information for students documents within your course in which this tool is necessary.
