Nichols Lodato Joins Prestigious National Psychology Committee

Bronwyn Nichols Lodato, an authority in adolescent and young adult development, from Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, is set to participate as a member of the U.S. National Committee for Psychological Science in the Policy and Global Affairs sector at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.

The committee, which operates under the National Academies’ Board on International Scientific Organizations and represents the International Union of Psychological Sciences, acts as the primary hub for encouraging U.S. involvement in global psychological science, enhancing U.S. collaborations with scientific communities around the globe. She commenced her three-year term in February.

Nichols Lodato, serving as an assistant professor in education as well as African and African American studies, has concentrated her research on adolescent growth, the transition into adulthood, and the higher education experiences of diverse youths and young adults. Her latest publication, “COVID-19, the Great Recession and Young Adult Identity Development: Shock-Sensitive Dynamic Ecological Systems Theory,” investigates the distinct effects that significant societal upheavals inflict on the developmental pathways of young adults.
