To assist in capturing the significance of Caltech research and offer insights on the federal funding that underpins it, the Office of Communications and External Relations has developed the Investing in Innovation platform at ResearchImpact.Caltech.edu.

The platform showcases how Caltech’s research and education drive US prominence in science and technology, improves the health and welfare of society and the environment, spawns new sectors, and develops the technologies we depend on in our daily activities.

It features sections focused on these six vital research domains:

• Human Health: enhancing and preserving lives by advancing a profound comprehension of the body and its functions
• Earthquakes and Seismology: leading global efforts in seismic measurement and monitoring for over a century
• The Future of Energy: investigating efficient, cost-effective, and reachable energy sources
• Space Exploration and Discovery: propelling observation and exploration of the universe and beyond to expand our understanding of origins and prospects
• AI and Quantum Computing: merging profound theoretical knowledge and interdisciplinary excellence to boost computing power and subsequently apply these tools to promote scientific discovery and tackle social challenges
• Robotics and Autonomous Systems: creating self-driving vehicles, self-assembling space robots, prosthetic devices, and other tools and instruments to navigate unpredictable environments where humans cannot venture

Additionally, it provides an overview of the Institute’s impact on the regional economy and addresses commonly asked questions about research funding.
