A new master’s curriculum in Couple and Family Therapy (CFT) at the University of Georgia aims to equip upcoming clinicians to tackle the escalating mental healthcare provider shortage.
CFT, a distinct type of psychotherapy, has demonstrated efficacy in resolving family disputes, addressing behavioral issues in children and teenagers, and managing mental health disorders like depression and anxiety.
This program, situated within the UGA College of Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS), will start accepting students this autumn following its approval from the University System of Georgia Board of Regents in April.
Graduates of the two-year program will be ready to enter entry-level positions in mental health and family therapy, as well as pursue higher doctoral education.
