The program aids U.S.-based poverty researchers from economically disadvantaged backgrounds by offering access to scholarly resources and professional connections. Scholars will spend a week in residence at IRP or one of its affiliated centers.

Naseh will fulfill her residency at the Center for Poverty & Inequality Research at the University of California, Davis. During her time there, she will partner with faculty, utilize research tools, and lead a seminar on issues related to poverty.

“I am grateful to receive this prestigious award and to collaborate with scholars at UC Davis while advancing my research,” Naseh remarked.

Naseh oversees the Forced Migration Initiative at the Brown School. Her studies concentrate on the social and economic assimilation of forcibly displaced individuals. She co-authored the widely acknowledged book “Best Practices in Social Work with Refugees and Immigrants” (Columbia University Press, 2019).

Established in 1966, IRP is the country’s most enduring poverty research center and is recognized by the U.S. government as the National Poverty Research Center. It conducts impartial research to shape policies and practices concerning poverty and inequality within the United States.
