Mark Humayun appointed as Slivinski Chair in Macular Degeneration Research

The distinguished ophthalmologist and University Professor is the co-inventor of Argus II, which provides functional vision to individuals with total retinal blindness.

Mark Humayun on Tuesday was appointed as the Dennis and Michele Slivinski Chair in Macular Degeneration Research. At the Keck School of Medicine of USC, Humayun serves as University Professor of Ophthalmology, Stem Cell Biology, Regenerative Medicine, and Biomedical Engineering, in addition to being co-director of the USC Roski Eye Institute, director of the USC Institute for Biomedical Therapeutics, and director of the USC Sensory Science Institute.

Humayun is the co-inventor of Argus II, which delivers functional vision to those experiencing total retinal blindness. He was inducted into the esteemed National Academy of Medicine and National Academy of Engineering for his groundbreaking contributions to restoring sight.
