When a student loses internet connection in the middle of an exam, they can click the “I Lost My Internet Connection” button to get it back, and their teacher will then reset the test for them.
When possible, students should connect over an Ethernet (wired) internet connection when taking tests using the Lockdown Browser. Connecting wirelessly, using a USB modem, or using a mobile hotspot may result in dropped or interrupted connections with Brightspace servers and affect the performance of the browser, resulting in data loss, failed saving attempts, the inability to move on to the next question, and unsuccessful submission or exit from the exam. As a result, we advise against students utilizing Lockdown Browser in a lab or classroom context unless the teacher has enabled Monitor.
Installation
In order to safeguard the exam environment within particular learning and assessment systems, Lockdown Browser is a specialized browser that stops students from browsing other URLs, switching programs, copying questions from previous exams, or printing when taking online exams. Additionally, using multiple monitors or screen sharing are not permitted, and students may only use Lockdown Browser during online tests with their instructor’s permission.
