How to Install Respondus Monitor and LockDown Browser on a Chromebook

Students taking exams that require Respondus LockDown Browser (RLDB) with Monitor (webcam recording) should ensure the system requirements for this software are in place before beginning your test to avoid issues related to hardware and software limitations or compatibility. RLDB is available on Windows, macOS and now Chromebook (beta). The application runs in the background without impacting other programs or running exams through it; any extra monitors or keyboards should also be unplugged before running RLDB. Also make sure any antivirus or malware protection software has been disabled beforehand.

Installed, RLDB allows for the customization of Windows desktop, keyboard keystrokes and areas of Chrome browser to your own needs while providing access to only specific extensions and websites – ideal for kiosk and digital signage systems, or running custom web applications on PCs.

If you need to take an exam that requires LockDown Browser with Monitor on an iPad, instructor approval and the LockDown Browser Apple app will be needed.
