Kaneko Appointed as New Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery
Tsuyoshi Kaneko, MD, a leader in clinical practice and research in minimally invasive valve operations and transcatheter methods, has been designated as the head of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Tsuyoshi Kaneko, MD, the John M. Shoenberg Chair of Cardiovascular Disease in the Department of Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been appointed as the fresh director of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Kaneko is a committed and inventive surgeon who became part of the Department of Surgery in 2022. His recent appointment commenced on May 1.

“Dr. Kaneko is an internationally esteemed cardiac surgeon who has exhibited a dedication to expanding and enriching the capabilities that the division offers to our patients and trainees,” stated John A. Olson Jr., MD, PhD, the William K. Bixby Professor of Surgery and the head of the Department of Surgery. “He is an exceptional cardiac surgeon whose distinguished leadership, surgical proficiency, innovative spirit, and commitment to educating future generations of surgeons will greatly benefit our institution.”
