Florida State University’s Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship (JMI) is set to conduct its 14th annual conference from June 11-13 at the James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art in St. Petersburg, Fla.
The JMI Conference is designed for small business proprietors, providing a significant platform for education, networking, and exchange of ideas. It features main sessions aimed at enhancing each participant’s entrepreneurial capabilities, along with breakout workshops for smaller cohorts with particular interests.
Three accomplished entrepreneurs will lead the keynote speaker roster, including former NBA player Charlie Ward, CEO of the Guy Harvey Foundation Jessica Harvey, and small business authority and author Ramon Ray.
Ward is an iconic sports personality at FSU, having secured the Heisman Trophy as the Seminoles’ quarterback during their inaugural national championship season in 1993. He was selected in the first round of the NBA draft, competing for 11 seasons with the New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs, and Houston Rockets. Recently, Ward has been appointed head coach of the Florida A&M men’s basketball team.
Harvey leads a foundation committed to preserving oceans through marine science exploration and education. Having traveled globally with her father, the eminent artist and conservationist Guy Harvey, she participated in numerous fishing and research journeys. She holds various fishing world records and channels her passion for the oceans to deepen her understanding of the marvels of the underwater realm.
Ray is a sought-after expert on personal branding as a means to achieve success in small businesses. Through his writings, podcasts, and interviews, Ray is recognized for motivating and enlightening business owners. He has launched five companies and sold three, and has authored five books, including “Celebrity CEO.”
The JMI Conference and Award Celebration will culminate the three-day event with the acknowledgment of the JMI 30 Award recipients. Debuting this year in honor of JMI’s 30th anniversary, the landmark initiative highlights the 30 fastest-growing enterprises owned or led by JMI alumni. The award ceremony honors JMI’s most innovative and triumphant alumni business leaders and non-profit executives.
Located within the Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship, JMI was established in 1995 to nurture, educate, and inspire entrepreneurial leaders through premier executive education, applied training, public recognition, and cutting-edge research. The institute supports small business operators and nonprofit organizations across Florida by offering numerous impactful programs.
