Florida State University has appointed Jeanette Taylor as its new Vice President for Faculty Development & Advancement. She will manage faculty recruitment, promotion, and professional growth at FSU.
Taylor, who is set to commence her new position on June 2, returns to FSU from the University of Georgia, where she holds the role of Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and serves as a psychology professor. She will take over from Janet Kistner, who is resigning after serving since 2016.
Previously, Taylor dedicated over 20 years to FSU in several leadership positions, such as associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences and chair of the Psychology Department.
Provost Jim Clark commended Taylor’s leadership capabilities and commitment to faculty success.
“We are delighted to have Dr. Taylor rejoin FSU,” remarked Provost Jim Clark. “She is a distinguished academic leader familiar with our university and its faculty. Her insight and vision will aid us in continuing to attract and nurture exceptional faculty.”
In her capacity as Vice President for Faculty Development & Advancement, Taylor will spearhead initiatives to recruit and maintain elite faculty, manage tenure and promotion regulations, enhance faculty professional growth, and nominate faculty for esteemed awards. She will collaborate closely with deans, department heads, and university administration.
She will step into a position that plays a vital role in shaping the academic trajectory of FSU. As she transitions back to the institution, Taylor expresses her enthusiasm for reconnecting with colleagues and supporting faculty across various disciplines.
“I am enthusiastic about contributing to the academic excellence of FSU by fostering the recruitment and development of its faculty and nurturing leaders,” stated Taylor.
Taylor obtained her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Minnesota. Her research centers on the genetics of mental health conditions, and she has published extensively within the discipline.
