Cybersecurity analysts have identified a new strain of an Android banking trojan named HOOK that incorporates ransomware-like overlay windows to present extortion notices.
“A key attribute of this recent variant is its ability to implement a complete-screen ransomware overlay, designed to pressure the target into providing a ransom,” stated Zimperium zLabs researcher Vishnu Pratapagiri.
