Features
Blackboard uses a software application called Respondus Lockdown Browser for online testing. While taking an exam, it forbids students from printing, copying, visiting another URL, or using other programs. It also locks the exam and forbids students from closing it before it has been turned in for marking. While LockDown Browser is available for Windows, Mac, and iOS, some instructors may insist that students use Monitor webcam proctoring from any location in the world in order to take exams.
Students must download and install LockDown Browser in order to take the exam; they can do this by clicking the link provided in their test instructions or by visiting the website of New Mexico State University. When the installation application opens, the user must choose their operating system and language before launching the program right away or saving it to run later. If installing, instructors must first give their approval on the lab computer(s).
After the program is set up, students can log onto D2L and find their test. Before selecting Launch LockDown Browser in D2L to start taking it, users should carefully read its instructions and take notice of any time constraints or time-out intervals. Each software will ask for your permission to run, and you may either grant it or deny it. As part of this procedure, some services, including email and instant chat, can be temporarily banned.
Installation
In order to access tests that require Respondus Lockdown Browser or Monitor (often referred to as LDB), students must first install LDB on their PCs. Installation is quick and easy, and once students are familiar with it and have used it for practice examinations, they may use it with confidence for graded exams.
Students will be guided to a simple and quick installation process that only takes a few minutes after they click a quiz link that calls for LDB. When students click any quiz in Brightspace that calls for this software after the installation is finished, LDB will begin immediately.

Taking a Test
