Dear FSU Community,
Our spirits are weighed down following the unfortunate event that unfolded on April 17. We are mourning alongside the families and acquaintances who have lost those dear to them. We stand with all who sustained injuries and are now in the process of healing. This has affected each of us, and I want you to understand: We are here to support you.
Classes and administrative functions will recommence on Monday, April 21. I recognize that this week won’t feel typical. It’s the final stretch before finals, and many of you are still coming to terms with what transpired. Please prioritize your well-being. If you require time or assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out. Students should consult their instructors for support with coursework or accommodations. Faculty and staff are encouraged to connect with their dean or supervisor.
No individual should navigate this situation in isolation. Support is accessible:
- Students seeking mental health assistance should contact our Counseling & Psychological Services team at (850) 644-TALK (8255).
- Moreover, the Victim Advocate Program offers free, confidential, and empathetic help for FSU students. Reach us at any time by calling (850) 644-7161, texting (850) 756-4320, or emailing [email protected].
- Employees needing support can reach out to EAP at (850) 644-2288 for complimentary, professional counseling services.
We will overcome this together by supporting one another. FSU thrives because of its community — and I wholeheartedly believe in this fellowship.
Warm regards,
Richard McCullough
President
