The Innovation Hub at Florida State University is hosting its yearly Seminole Innovators Showcase, an exhibition that honors creativity and technological progress across various fields.

This year’s Seminole Innovators Showcase will display inventive projects developed by students, faculty, staff, and community collaborators from FSU. Attendees can anticipate a wide array of projects, including mobile applications, web applications, AI tools, virtual reality encounters, 3D printed creations, and more. Participants will have the chance to engage in games, join initiatives, and immerse themselves in the groundbreaking efforts taking place at FSU.

The event is scheduled for Friday, April 18, from noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Innovation Hub.

“It is a privilege to invite everyone to the Innovation Hub for this exhilarating occasion,” remarked Ken Baldauf, the founding director of the Innovation Hub. “Our Seminole Innovators Showcase is a tribute to innovation across the campus. While individual departments and colleges present events featuring their students’ specific achievements, the Innovation Hub embraces an interdisciplinary approach, highlighting the fusion of fields in creative and innovative endeavors. We encourage the FSU community to celebrate and appreciate the outcomes of these efforts.”

A standout feature of the Seminole Innovators Showcase is the collaboration with the Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship. This partnership reinstates the well-received SharkTank pitch competition, where contenders can vie for a grand prize of $1000.

“Every year, the Seminole Innovators Showcase elevates expectations — and this year is no different,” stated Wes Dorce, faculty advisor for Seminole Innovators, a student organization supported by the Innovation Hub. “The unique aspect of this event is how it brings together students, faculty, staff, and community collaborators around daring ideas and genuine innovation. I’m particularly eager to witness the groundbreaking concepts that have been nurtured in the Innovation Hub.”

A number of the projects on display are produced by participants of the Seminole Innovators. This group allows students from any major, year, or skill level to acquire unique, cutting-edge competencies across various disciplines outside the classroom and enhance their portfolios with impressive projects.

“We at the Hub genuinely enjoy organizing the Showcase; it’s our version of the Super Bowl,” expressed Jacob Javor, showcase coordinator and past president of Seminole Innovators. “This event showcases the incredible work being accomplished at FSU.”

The Showcase grants students the opportunity to present the projects they have been developing throughout the academic year.

“This event allows them to demonstrate the abilities they have honed and to celebrate their progress through practical, hands-on experience in technical fields they might not have had the chance to explore before,” noted Colby Jacobs, current president of Seminole Innovators.

Those wanting to attend should RSVP, though it’s not mandatory. For further information and details about the event, visit innovation.fsu.edu/showcase.
