Florida State University Information Technology’s Third-Party Risk Management Program has been recognized as a 2025 Foundry’s CSO Award recipient, one of the most esteemed accolades for security experts.
The CSO Awards acknowledge entities that exemplify excellence in security and risk management.
FSU’s Third-Party Risk Management Program was recognized for its innovative strategy in managing threats posed by external vendors, enabling the university to uphold robust security and compliance standards throughout its operations.
“Receiving this award underscores our team’s steadfast commitment to maintaining the highest levels of security and compliance,” remarked Jonathan Fozard, associate vice president and chief information officer at FSU. “It reflects the ongoing achievements we’re experiencing at Florida State — we’re advancing in the rankings, attracting national and international recognition, and the security team is acknowledged as integral to that progress.”
The initiative was initiated following a 2021 audit recommendation aimed at enhancing vendor security protocols. FSU’s Information Security and Privacy Office collaborated with the university’s procurement department to establish a process that guarantees vendors providing critical business functions undergo independent information security evaluations. Employing a risk-based methodology, the program reviews vendor reports to determine the sufficiency of their security protocols.
