Florida State University Launches Its First Ever Data Day Conference to Highlight Innovation and Collaboration

Florida State University initiated a fresh partnership among faculty and staff with its inaugural Data Day, a single-day conference organized by the Office of Institutional Research and supported by the Office of the Provost.

This novel occasion offered participants enlightening presentations, interactive workshops, and networking possibilities, equipping attendees with data literacy and methods to leverage its transformative potential.

“FSU Data Day transcends a typical conference; it represents a commitment,” stated Associate Vice Provost and Chief Data and Analytics Officer James Hunt. “We are present because we envision a daring mission to make Florida State University the most data-centric campus nationwide — and that encompasses more than merely generating reports or monitoring metrics. It signifies nurturing an environment where data is reliable, utilized, and disseminated. An environment where it ignites insights, cultivates collaboration, and ultimately enables us to better serve our students and the community.”

“The wonderful aspect of data is that it enables us to build partnerships and connections across universities because when you engage at this level, it’s not about politics or ideology; it’s about comprehending what’s happening globally and in institutions,” stated Clark.

With 20 workshops, presentations, and discussions available, participants dedicated the day to examining how data is reshaping strategic objectives and enhancing operational effectiveness throughout the university.
