Florida State University and the Claude Pepper Foundation welcome the community to a distinctive celebration commemorating the 125th anniversary of Senator Claude Pepper, a significant figure in Florida and national history.

The commemoration is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, at the Broad Auditorium, Claude Pepper Center Building, located on the FSU campus.
This commemorative gathering will showcase a keynote speech by James C. Clark, senior lecturer at the University of Central Florida, along with an engaging series of presentations that delve into Sen. Pepper’s deep impact on Florida State University, his eponymous library and museum, and his lasting legacy in public service, health care, and advocacy for the elderly.
The celebration will also feature the first public viewing of the new documentary, “The Legacy of Claude Denson Pepper,” which chronicles the life and contributions of one of the most esteemed figures in 20th-century American politics.
Participants can indulge in a continental breakfast starting at 8 a.m., succeeded by presentations and a buffet lunch at noon.
This event presents a unique occasion to honor and reflect on Sen. Pepper’s lengthy service and the principles he promoted, many of which continue to influence public policy and academic life at Florida State University and beyond.
