Florida State University has announced its largest group of Tyler Center for Global Studies Fellows, granting nine scholars for their academic pursuits and global enthusiasm.
The accolade, backed by the national Tyler Center for Global Studies, is part of several initiatives from the Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement’s IDEA Grants program, which finances original research projects and creative activities for students from various disciplines.
“These fellowships integrate undergraduate research, global education, and mentorship,” stated Latika Young, executive director of the Tyler Center. “We take pride in providing these chances to our fellows, who develop as researchers and global citizens while getting ready for their future professions.”
Established by William H. Tyler III through a generous donation from the Tyler Foundation in 2022, the Tyler Center is hosted and managed by FSU. Its aim is to foster a network of global scholars who will influence the future through research, creativity, and cooperation.
Serving as the coordinating entity, the Tyler Center functions as a consortium of institutions, linking undergraduate students nationwide with opportunities for global exploration in research. This year’s fellows visited countries across Europe, South America, Africa, and the Caribbean, delving into subjects such as human rights, migration, coral reef biology, and art history.
The Tyler Center is set to hold its second annual Virtual Summit from 4-6 p.m. ET on Thursday, Nov. 20. Throughout this online gathering, Tyler Fellows from each institution will showcase their research discoveries and experiences abroad to the broader Tyler Center community. Following this, a moderated Q&A session will welcome inquiries from attendees. Those interested in participating must register for the Virtual Summit by the end of the day on Monday, Nov. 10.
