Florida State University’s College of Motion Picture Arts has introduced “Close-Up,” a fresh directory for actors aimed at assisting students in casting their films. This forward-thinking tool seeks to simplify the casting procedure, making it more convenient for students to discover the ideal performers for their projects.
“Close-Up is a transformative resource for our students,” stated Andrew Syder, associate dean of the College of Motion Picture Arts. “It offers them a thorough platform to find and engage with skilled actors, elevating the overall standard of their films.”
The directory welcomes actors of all types, from experienced professionals to newcomers in the field.
“Whether you are a seasoned character actor or stepping in front of a camera for the first time, we invite you to join our casting network,” remarked Erika Stone, actor in residence at the College of Motion Picture Arts. “This is an excellent opportunity to kickstart your acting journey, engage in the creative process, and display your abilities.”
The newly implemented system, which enhances the connection between actors and projects, was initiated to reinforce relationships between filmmakers and local talent.
“We phased out our old system and developed this new one,” Stone explained. “The main reason for this change is that the majority of actors we feature in our films come from this area, so it’s essential to establish a means for us to locate each other and match projects that suit both parties.”
Establishing an actor profile on Close-Up is straightforward and swift. Once signed up, actors will be accessible to students seeking talent for their upcoming endeavors.
Profiles from the prior “Action” database will not carry over, so actors will need to set up a fresh profile in Close-Up.
