Florida State University Unveils Vibrant Mural Celebrating Seminole Heritage by Local Artist

Artiste of the Seminole Tribe of Florida Erica Deitz witnessed her artwork, “Osceola’s Vision,” in its complete form for the initial time on Friday during an occasion organized by Florida State University’s Native American and Indigenous Studies Center.

“It exceeded my anticipations because I have only seen other individuals’ pictures of it, but that doesn’t truly represent it,” Deitz remarked. “It’s quite remarkable to view it on such an expansive scale.”

Deitz characterizes the mural as “an embodiment of Osceola’s dream to witness his people live autonomously and thrive, all under the stewardship of his ancestors and medicinal practitioners.” Osceola was a pivotal figure of the Seminole Tribe in Florida.

The mural, a 24-by-16-foot acrylic artwork, is showcased on the mezzanine level of FSU’s Student Union.
