As a young girl, Madeleine Martin created puppet performances behind a quaint wooden stage adorned with crimson drapes. Her siblings provided candid feedback, yet she continued to script and perform.

This determination and creativity propelled her journey from living room performances to Broadway, television, animation, and ultimately to Florida State University, where she instructs in the School of Theatre.

“Initially, I became enamored with the concept, and subsequently with my own puppet shows,” Martin expressed. “C.S. Lewis once stated, ‘Reason leads us to truth, but imagination finds meaning.’ My father was a philosophy lecturer, and I’ve always been captivated by how we can pursue a purposeful existence. I believe that artistic expressions are one avenue through which I possess choices in life.”

Within the College of Fine Arts, the School of Theatre is nationally acclaimed for its exceptional acting, theatre, and musical theatre programs. Her portfolio includes Emmy Award-winning television, voice performances in beloved animations, and parts on Broadway.

She frequently conveys to her students the feeling of community that has anchored her in a competitive field.
