SonicWall SSL VPN appliances have emerged as the focus of Akira ransomware assaults amid a recent increase in incidents noted in late July 2025.
“In the analyzed breaches, several pre-ransomware infiltrations were detected within a brief timeframe, with each one utilizing VPN access via SonicWall SSL VPNs,” stated Arctic Wolf Labs investigator Julian Tuin in a report.
