• A organized network consisting of over 50 fraudulent X accounts is executing an AI-assisted influence campaign. This network, referred to as “PRISONBREAK,” is disseminating narratives urging Iranian audiences to rise up against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
• Although the network was established in 2023, most of its operations commenced in January 2025 and persist to this day.
• The activities of the profiles seem to have been partially synchronized with the military offensive that the Israel Defense Forces carried out against Iranian objectives in June 2025.
• While genuine engagement with PRISONBREAK’s material seems to be minimal, certain posts garnered tens of thousands of views. The operation disseminated such posts within large public communities on X, and potentially financed their promotion as well.
• After thoroughly examining alternative explanations, we conclude that the hypothesis most aligned with the available evidence is that an unidentified entity of the Israeli government, or a sub-contractor operating under its close oversight, is directly executing the operation.
