During his professional hours, Justin Chavez, JD ’18, dedicates his time in the Atlanta branch of a prominent national law firm, concentrating on health-care confidentiality, technology, telemedicine, and regulatory legislation. However, in his leisure time, he morphs into “The Disney World Dad,” assisting first-time Disney visitors with young children to easily navigate the amusement parks. His blog, newsletter, and social media platforms offer travel advice and updates on everything Disney, including forthcoming park enhancements and film debuts.

Disney theme parks attract millions of guests each year, and Disney influencers have emerged as reliable sources of information for countless families. By engaging in this cultural phenomenon, Chavez discovers a method to bond with his three small children and ignite his creativity.

Introducing Justin Chavez

Visits to Disney World: 14 (only once without children)

Children’s ages: 5, 3, and 1

Which Disney character would excel as a lawyer? “I would choose Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She’s ambitious and an avid reader, which would be beneficial during her studies and throughout her legal career.”

I have always been passionate about theme parks. Yet during my upbringing, I couldn’t visit due to financial constraints. Before our wedding, my wife and I opted for a “mini-moon.” A colleague who was a devoted Disney fan suggested we travel to Disney World in Orlando. He mentioned there were numerous activities to enjoy even without kids. That trip was a transformative experience for me. On the flight home, I created an Instagram account and shared a photo of Cinderella Castle. It took off from there. The Disney World Dad blog was launched.

I have always harbored a creative streak, which expresses itself through writing. Besides crafting the Disney World Dad blog, I am engaged in numerous fiction projects. I recently completed my first novel and have several other pieces underway. I feel I am currently thriving creatively. This blog allows me to write, express my creativity, and connect with a broader community. Pursuing creative interests alongside your professional work is essential. Everyone requires a hobby or an avenue for artistic expression.

The blog focuses on effectively navigating Disney World with children. While it is challenging, it is certainly achievable. Although Disney parks host children’s films and characters, some parents express concerns that these locations may not be genuinely family-friendly and could lead to a disappointing vacation. Yet, I believe these worries are exaggerated. The desires and necessities of children are taken into account in ways that are often overlooked in other environments.

My top tip for someone visiting Disney World with children for the first time is to conduct thorough research and devise a plan. Ensure your plan serves as a flexible framework, and you will enjoy your experience. Many folks enter the parks without investing the necessary time into research, merely skimming through information. Then, once at the park, they attempt to engage in every activity they’ve seen on television or Instagram, leading to frustration when things don’t go as planned. Achieving a successful trip hinges on a balanced mix of preparation and adaptability. That’s the secret to having an enjoyable experience.
