Stephanie Mitchell is a third-year Ph.D. candidate within the UW Department of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences (DEOHS) and is also a military spouse. Her research spans multiple disciplines, focusing on global health and conservation efforts.

Brian Riley obtained a degree in Economics from the United States Air Force Academy and served almost nine years of active duty, leading Pararescue teams on three missions in the Middle East and Africa. He has earned a master’s in Emergency and Disaster Management and is currently in his final year at the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Chosen from a highly competitive group of candidates, the 42 new scholars become part of a network of change agents committed to creating a positive impact across various areas, including medicine, law, education, public policy, technology, and the arts.

In 2002, Pat Tillman paused his NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals to serve his nation. In 2004, his family and friends established the Pat Tillman Foundation to continue that legacy. The foundation offers academic scholarships and resources to outstanding military service members, veterans, and their spouses to assist them in reaching their highest potential as leaders—regardless of how they opt to serve.
