Florida State University Student Veterans Connect with Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs in Engaging Roundtable Discussion

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Deputy Secretary Paul R. Lawrence toured Florida State University’s campus on Tuesday, June 24, for a roundtable dialogue with student veterans from FSU, Florida A&M University, and Tallahassee State College, alongside those who support them.

The dialogue took place in FSU’s Harpe-Johnson ROTC Building and concentrated on VA educational benefits, with the Deputy Secretary looking to gather insights from participants regarding what is functioning effectively, as well as locating possible areas for enhancement for everyone involved.

“One of the most significant advantages of military service is the G.I. Bill — complimentary college education for those who serve honorably for three years,” Lawrence remarked. “However, it must be a remarkable experience. I was particularly struck by how specific and thorough the students’ feedback was, and how actionable it was — suggestions that we could implement immediately to enhance the experience.”
