The University of Washington holds the No. 8 position on the 2025-26 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Global Universities list, published on Tuesday. The UW has maintained its No. 2 position among public universities in the U.S.
Additionally, the UW ranked within the top 10 in eight fields as assessed by U.S. News.
Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stanford University led the ranking, in that sequence. The University of Oxford is ranked No. 4, followed closely by the University of Cambridge and the University of California, Berkeley. Yale University and Columbia University completed the top 10.

This encompasses bibliometric indicators such as publication counts, citation frequencies, and international collaborations.
The overall Best Global Universities ranking includes 2,250 institutions across 105 countries, as reported by U.S. News.
