A DoorDash driver embezzled more than $2.5 million over a span of several months:

The driver, Sayee Chaitainya Reddy Devagiri, made high-value orders using a deceitful customer profile within the DoorDash application. Subsequently, by utilizing DoorDash employee credentials, he manually allocated the orders to driver accounts that he and his accomplices had established. Devagiri would then declare the undelivered orders as completed and prompt DoorDash’s system to compensate the driver accounts. Afterward, he’d revert those same orders back to “in process” and repeat the cycle. This process “took under five minutes and was repeated hundreds of times for many of the orders,” states the US Attorney’s Office.

An intriguing flaw in the software architecture. He might have evaded capture if he had kept the figures modest. It’s only when the discrepancy becomes too substantial to overlook that the inquiries commence.
