Biology Scholars Celebrate Annual Honors
CSeniors Basma Daham (starting from top left), Autumn Kim, Lillith Streett, and Angelina O’Brien, from Arts & Sciences, have been recognized as recipients of the Department of Biology’s yearly accolades.

The Department of Biology in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis has announced the 2025 student honorees of its annual awards. They are:

  • Basma Daham, pursuing a major in biology with a focus on neuroscience, as well as in Arabic, both within Arts & Sciences, earned the Garland Allen Prize, bestowed upon a student demonstrating significant commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Autumn Kim, a biology student concentrating in ecology and evolution, while also minoring in East Asian languages and cultures, was awarded the Ralph S. Quatrano Prize, which is presented for the thesis that illustrates the most compelling evidence of creativity in design, research methodology, or broader scientific ramifications.
  • Angelina O’Brien, a biology major specializing in molecular biology and biochemistry, along with a minor in computer science, claimed the Marion Smith Spector Prize, which honors academic excellence and exceptional undergraduate accomplishments in research.
  • Lillith Streett, majoring in biology with a focus on neuroscience and history, both in Arts & Sciences, received the Harrison D. Stalker Award, awarded to a student whose undergraduate experience merges remarkable scientific scholarship with significant contributions to the arts and humanities.
