On March 13, the initial cohort of personnel from Finance and Administration (F&A) and University Human Resources (UHR) completed the Data Analytics for Decision Making certification program.

During the graduation event, attendees showcased team capstone projects that investigated innovative methods to visualize and interpret data in essential areas, such as facilities, finance, human resources, student space utilization, and safety.

Conducted over five months by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government (CVIOG), the customized course was crafted specifically to address the professional requirements of F&A and UHR personnel. CVIOG has provided this training to assist various state agencies and public institutions in enhancing their capabilities in data analytics, offering practical approaches that promote more efficient, transparent, and responsive decision-making.

The certification program is a component of a larger Data Strategy initiative led collaboratively by F&A and UHR. This initiative seeks to standardize how both units manage and utilize data—aligning with the University System of Georgia’s focus on ethical data stewardship and uniform reporting, as well as UGA’s data governance framework, which fosters collective responsibility, data integrity, and secure access.
