With an undergraduate student population exceeding 30,000, the University of Georgia community takes satisfaction in embracing its newest members wholeheartedly. This is the objective of Welcome UGA, a six-week initiative designed to assist new students in transitioning seamlessly while offering resources for both newcomers and returning students to connect with UGA, cultivate a sense of belonging among peers, and excel academically.

Each semester, University Transitions plays a pivotal role in organizing 60+ events in collaboration with various partners throughout the campus to greet the newest members of the UGA student body. These activities are varied, offering everything from complimentary fitness classes to interactions with local businesses downtown and individual college open houses. These initiatives guarantee that every student can discover an event suited to their preferences.

Welcome UGA grants students the opportunity to “connect with one another, tap into valuable resources, and enhance their UGA spirit,” as stated by Nicole McConnell, Director of University Transitions.
