Megan Tierney Baldridge, MD, PhD, serving as an assistant professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases within the Department of Medicine at WashU Medicine, has been awarded a $100,000 grant to investigate the relationships between the viruses that target bacteria — referred to as bacteriophages — and human intestinal epithelial cells. The aim of this project is to reveal how phages also affect human cells.
The Global Grants for Gut Health, which is backed by Yakult and Nature Portfolio, presents a competitive initiative for research led by investigators into the human gut microbiota.
