A collaboration between a college and the Clarke County School District (CCSD) is aimed at closing gaps in physical education (PE) for students with disabilities, while also offering prospective educators, allied health professionals, and others the chance to observe and engage with preK-12 students.
Directed by T. Nicole Kirk, an assistant professor within the Department of Kinesiology, the partnership equips both undergraduate and graduate students with two specific objectives tailored to the course level.
“When individuals consider PE, they may envision solely competitive sports and activities enjoyed by only the most proficient students,” remarked Kirk. “If the aim of PE is to impart the skills necessary to enjoy physical activity throughout one’s life, it’s essential that future professionals comprehend how to design activities that enable all learners to thrive in physical activity, exercise, or sports with the physical and mental capabilities they possess.”
