Gladney, who has held the position on an interim capacity since mid-October, will continue to lead the university’s Office of Human Resources divisions, which encompass recruitment and talent acquisition, employee benefits and well-being, compensation, HR operations, Workday, reporting and compliance, communication and engagement, as well as professional growth and leadership excellence.

“It has been a joy working alongside Apryle this past year,” Luoma stated. “Her extensive background in WashU HR is priceless, and she is the ideal leader for WashU at a time when guidance is particularly essential. We are fortunate to have her.”

Having been part of WashU for 25 years, Gladney enters her new capacity with an understanding of the university’s advantages and challenges and is devoted to transparent leadership. Her commitment will help assure that WashU continues to flourish as a premier institution of higher education and academic medicine.

“Apryle offers a vast range of experience to this position,” Chancellor Andrew D. Martin remarked. “Her influence has been remarkable, especially in uniting the WashU Medicine and Danforth HR teams into a single cohesive unit. Her dedication to our mission is unwavering, and she has exhibited compassionate leadership during a period of significant transition.”

In her prior leadership positions at WashU, she managed all facets of employee relations and human resources operations, including compliance, talent acquisition, and faculty appointments. Before joining WashU in 2000, she worked as the interim health center manager and a human resources and organizational development consultant at BJC HealthCare, as well as providing consulting services for Missouri Baptist Medical Center.

“I am exhilarated and profoundly honored to take on the role of WashU’s next chief human resources officer,” Gladney expressed. “I am eager to collaborate with our exceptional schools, units, and departments to advance strategic initiatives, nurture a positive work atmosphere and employee experience, and contribute to the continued achievements of WashU. Together, we will maintain WashU as a beacon of excellence and innovation as we progress with our missions to offer outstanding patient care, research, and education.”

Gladney obtained her degree in business administration with a focus on marketing and human resource management from Saint Louis University. She is an engaged member of the Society for Human Resource Management and holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources certification.
